Lesson 1: 4.0: Foundations of Price Action & Candlestick Anatomy
Master reading Japanese candlesticks, open-high-low-close structures, and standard candlestick patterns.
1. Anatomy of a Candlestick
A Japanese candlestick displays price data for a specific time interval. The 'Real Body' represents the range between the Open and Close prices. The 'Wicks' or 'Shadows' extend to show the Highest and Lowest traded prices during that period.
Green (bullish) candles represent closing prices higher than opening prices, while Red (bearish) candles denote closing prices lower than opening prices.
★ Pattern Spotlight: Reversal wicks (like Hammer or Shooting Star candles) highlight sudden intra-period shifts in buying or selling control.
