Your habits
Patterns found in your own trades. They are questions to check, not conclusions, and small numbers of trades can mislead.
After a loss your trades were about 117% bigger on average than after a win.
6 trades were at least twice your usual size, with a combined result of +$1,518.00.
After a win, and after a loss
Your trades in the order you logged them, split by how the trade right before ended.
After a loss your trades were about 117% bigger on average than after a win.

Trades much bigger than usual
Your usual size is $427.50 (the middle trade, by entry price x quantity, x100 for options). For an option this is the premium, not the most you could lose.
6 trades were at least twice your usual size, with a combined result of +$1,518.00.

What the free trading journal tracks
Stocks and options in one place
Log completed trades for stocks and options: symbol, strike, delta, put or call, buy or sell, quantity, entry and exit price, date and your notes. Profit or loss and win or loss are worked out for you, with options counted per 100-share contract.
Your results at a glance
See net profit and loss, win rate, profit factor, average win and loss, and the biggest drop from a peak. A cumulative profit chart with date ranges and a profit-and-loss calendar show how the account moved day by day.
Setup tags and notes
Tag each trade with the strategy behind it, such as a cash-secured put, a covered call or a vertical spread, and write why you took it. Tags let the journal compare how different approaches have worked for you.
Your data stays yours
Export a CSV backup of the whole journal at any time and import it back, or clear it and start over. The journal belongs to your account and is not shown to other members.
How it works
- 1
Create a free account
Sign up with your email and confirm it with the link we send. There is no card and no trial to cancel.
- 2
Add your trades
Log a trade by hand, or import a CSV from your broker. You review the trades before anything is added.
- 3
Read your numbers
The dashboard, chart and calendar update as you add trades, separately for stocks and options.
- 4
Look at your habits
Habit insights and the journal review point out patterns in your own trading, and you can ask for an AI review once a month.
Import your trades from your broker
Export your broker’s activity or transactions file as a CSV, choose Manage data and then Import CSV. The journal pairs each opening with its closing, shows you what it found, and adds the completed trades only after you confirm.
- Robinhood: built and tested on a real export.
- tastytrade, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, E*TRADE, Interactive Brokers, Webull: in beta. Built from public sample files and not yet checked against a real export, so look the trades over before you add them.
Habit insights and the journal review
With at least 10 trades, the journal compares how you do right after a win with right after a loss, which weekdays work best for you, how trades much bigger than usual turned out, and what your best and worst trades have in common. The free journal review sums up what is going well, what is worth working on and what to keep in mind.
All of this describes your own data. These are questions to check, not conclusions, and it never says what to trade.
One free AI review every month
Every free account can ask for one AI review a month. It reads your journal and writes, in plain language, what is working, patterns to watch, three trades worth a second look and habits to practise. Members can ask for 4 a month. Your journal is only sent to Anthropic after you agree to the notice.

Frequently asked questions
Is the trading journal really free?
Yes. Anyone with a verified email can use it, with no card. The free account includes the journal for stocks and options, broker CSV import, habit insights, the journal review and one AI review a month. A paid membership adds Signal Desk, more AI reviews and the community.
Does it work for both options and stocks?
Yes. Options and stocks are kept on separate tabs, so the numbers for one never get mixed into the other. The review of the whole journal reads both together.
Which brokers can I import from?
Activity exports from Robinhood, tastytrade, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, E*TRADE, Interactive Brokers and Webull. The Robinhood import was built and tested on a real export. The other six were built from public sample files and are still in beta, so look the trades over before you add them. You can also import the journal’s own CSV backup.
Does it connect to my brokerage account?
No. You export a file from your broker and import it yourself. The journal never asks for your broker login. It adds completed trades only: open positions are skipped until they are closed, expired or assigned, and trades already in your journal are not added twice.
What does the AI review do, and who sees my data?
The AI review reads your logged trades, setup tags and notes and writes a plain-language review: what is working, patterns to watch and habits to practise. It teaches and never tells you what to buy or sell. Your journal is only sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI, if you agree to the notice and ask for a review. It can make mistakes, so check anything that matters.
How is this different from a spreadsheet template?
A template is a blank sheet you fill in and calculate yourself. The journal does the arithmetic, draws the chart and calendar, finds patterns across your trades and keeps everything on your account across devices. If you prefer a spreadsheet, the free journal template is also available.
Is this financial advice?
No. The journal describes what happened in your own trades so you can learn from it. It does not recommend trades, and Academia Trade is education, not a licensed financial advisor.
Get more out of it
Educational content only, not investment advice. Trading options involves risk, including the loss of your entire investment in a position. The journal describes your own past results, which do not guarantee future results.
