Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

• Account information: your email address and a password. We store your password only as a one-way scrambled value (a "hash"), so we cannot read it. If you ask to reset it, we email you a link.
• Billing: when you subscribe, you pay through Stripe. Stripe collects your card details; we never see or store your card number. We keep your Stripe customer reference, your subscription status (active, trialing, past due, canceled) and when the current period ends, so we know what you have access to.
• What you put into the site: your trading journal entries and any broker file you import into it, your paper-trading account (practice trades, positions, share and cash history, notes and tags), lesson progress and quiz results, favorite and recently viewed tickers, and your saved settings. Paper trading uses pretend money. Notes and tags are stored exactly as you type them, so please do not put anything private in them.
• Welcome questions (optional): how you heard about us, your experience level and your first goal. You can skip them.
• Where you came from: if you arrive from a link, your browser remembers the website that sent you (its name only), any campaign tags on the link and the page you landed on. If you sign up, we save that with your account so we know which channels are working. If you never do, it stays in your browser.
• Technical information: a login cookie keeps you signed in. Our hosting provider and our server record technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used; it sets its own cookies and receives your IP address and page activity. If you are visiting from Europe (the EU, UK or EEA), analytics stays off until you click Accept on the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the page footer.
• Messages you send us: if you email us or open a ticket, we keep that conversation.

2. The AI features, and what is sent to them

Three features use outside AI services. All are optional, and nothing is sent until you use them.

• AI Tutor (Google Gemini): when you chat with the tutor, your messages and the lesson you are viewing, for context, are sent to Google's Gemini service to write the reply. Please do not type anything private into the tutor.
• AI review of your paper account (Anthropic): when you click "Write my AI review", your paper-trading numbers are sent to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI, to write a review. We ask for your agreement first, with a notice you must accept. What is sent is your practice trades, positions, share and cash history, results, and the notes and tags you wrote. It does not include your name, email, password or any billing information, and it is pretend-money data. We keep the review it writes on your account so you can read it again, and we record how many reviews you have used and what each cost to run. Anthropic handles the data under its own terms and privacy policy. AI reviews are written by a machine, can contain mistakes, and are for learning, not financial advice.
• AI review of your trading journal (Anthropic): when you click "Write my AI review" in the Trading Journal, your journal entries are sent to Anthropic to write a review: your logged and imported trades (dates, symbols, strikes, prices and results), your setup tags, the notes you wrote and summary numbers. These may be real trades. It does not include your name, email, password, broker account number or any billing information, but anything you type into trade notes is included, so please keep notes free of private details. We ask for your agreement first, with a notice you must accept, and keep the review on your account so you can read it again, with a record of how many you have used and what each cost to run. Anthropic handles the data under its own terms and privacy policy.

We do not use your data to train our own AI models. Each provider's own policy explains how it handles the data it receives.

3. How we use it

• to run your account, show you what you have access to, and take payment;
• to provide the lessons, journal, paper trading, Signal Desk tools and AI features you ask for;
• to email you things you need, such as password resets and billing or account messages;
• to keep the site secure and stop abuse;
• to understand which pages and features are used, so we can improve them;
• to answer your questions and meet legal and tax obligations.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with companies that help us run the site, and only what they need. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising profiles.

• Stripe for payments and subscription billing.
• Hostinger for hosting and our database, on our behalf.
• Resend to send our emails (it receives your email address and the message).
• Google for Analytics (visit data) and the AI Tutor (your tutor messages and lesson context).
• Anthropic for the AI review, when you use it.
• Discord for our community server, which has its own policy for what you post there. New-member alerts, which include member emails, go to a private staff-only channel.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or if the business is sold or reorganized, in which case this policy would continue to apply.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account information and the data you entered for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and its data within 30 days, except records the law requires us to keep (for example billing and tax records) and routine backups, which roll off on their own schedule. Analytics data is kept according to Google's settings.

6. Your choices and rights

• See, correct or delete your information: email help@academiatrade.com. For now, deleting an account is handled by email.
• Cancel your subscription at any time from "Manage billing" on the site; this stops future charges.
• Skip optional things: the welcome questions, the AI Tutor and the AI review are all optional.
• Cookies: you can block or clear cookies in your browser, although the site may not keep you signed in if you block the login cookie. You can also use Google's tools to opt out of Analytics.
• California and other states: if your state's law gives you extra rights (to know, delete, correct or opt out), email us and we will honor them. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.

7. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), store passwords only as hashes, and keep our access keys on the server, never in your browser. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

8. Adults only, and no financial advice

The website is for adults aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it. Academia Trade is an education service. Paper trading is practice with pretend money, and nothing on the site, including the AI features, is investment, tax or legal advice.

9. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you on the site or by email. For the AI review, we will ask you to agree again if what is sent, or who receives it, changes.
