Module 5: Candlestick AnalysisIntermediate 15 Min

Lesson 4: 5.3: Triple Candlestick Patterns

Identify high-probability three-candle structural setups such as Morning Stars, Evening Stars, and Three White Soldiers.

1. The Morning and Evening Star

The Morning Star is a bullish reversal pattern consisting of three candles: a large red candle, a small-bodied candle (or Doji) that gaps down, and a large green candle that closes deep within the first candle's body. It represents the dawn of a new uptrend.

The Evening Star is the bearish equivalent: a large green candle, a small gapping candle showing exhaustion, and a large red candle closing deep in the green body, signaling a structural peak.

2. Three White Soldiers and Three Black Crows

Three White Soldiers is a bullish continuation or reversal pattern consisting of three consecutive long green candles, each opening within the previous body and closing near the high. It indicates relentless buying pressure.

Three Black Crows is the bearish counterpart, comprising three consecutive red candles closing near their lows, representing absolute institutional liquidation.

A morning star, an evening star, three white soldiers and three black crows
Four three-candle patterns. Morning star: a long red candle, a small candle that gaps below it, then a green candle that closes above the midpoint of the first body (105). Evening star is the mirror image and closes below that midpoint. Three white soldiers: three green candles, each opening inside the previous body and closing higher (104, 107, 110). Three black crows: the mirror image (106, 103, 100). Only the shapes are shown, not what happens next. Illustrative data.
