Lesson 2: 11.2: Point of Control (POC)
Master the most important level in a volume profile: the price of highest traded volume.
1. Understanding the Point of Control
The Point of Control (POC) is the single price level within a volume profile where the greatest amount of volume was executed during the selected period.
It represents the ultimate 'fair value' agreed upon by both buyers and sellers during that time frame. Because it has the highest concentration of trading activity, it acts as a powerful gravitational level for price.
★ Market Gravity: Price tends to return to the POC because it is the most accepted price in the range. It represents the center of the auction's balance.
2. Virgin Point of Control (vPOC)
A Virgin Point of Control (vPOC), also known as an Naked POC, is a historic session POC that has not yet been touched or retested by price in any subsequent session.
Because these levels represent highly significant historic fair value agreements where heavy institutional size was positioned, they act as major support or resistance targets when price finally returns to them.
